What type of case records can be accessed through the Archives division?

The Clerk of Courts Archives Division was created in 1984 to establish a Records Management Program for the organization of Clerk of Courts microfilm records. The following is a sample of the records, which can be accessed through the Archives Division:

  1. Circuit Felony - years 1915 through 1992
  2. Active Circuit Civil Cases - years 1915 through 1979
  3. Circuit Civil Docket Sheets through 1989
  4. Circuit Probate and Mental Health - years 1915 through 1980
  5. County Civil Docket Sheets through 1989
  6. Marriage Licenses - years 1922 - present

The information required for searches is:

  1. Marriage – the Groom’s full name, the Bride’s name at the time of the marriage application and the year of the marriage
  2. Civil – the Plaintiff and Defendant names and the year of the case
  3. Felony – the defendant’s name, date of birth and year of the case
  4. Probate - individual’s name and the year of the case

The fees are:

  1. $2.00 per year searched
  2. $1.00 photocopy per page of a document
  3. $2.00 per certification of a document
  4. $7.00 per exemplification of a document

Acceptable forms of payment:

  1. Checks – Attorney Firm, Personal, Business, Cashiers and Travelers made payable to the Clerk of Courts (in person and by mail)
  2. Money Orders – U.S. and International (in person and by mail)
  3. Credit Cards – Visa and MasterCard (in person, only)

If appearing in person, our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time; the location is approximately four (4) blocks west of the Main Courthouse across from the railroad tracks. Directions to assist you in locating the office are:

Take Broward Boulevard to Andrews Avenue. Go south on Andrews Avenue. Turn right on South West Sixth Street, then right on South West Second Avenue.

If sending a request by mail, we request you include a stamped, self-addressed business envelope. Please allow a minimum of two (2) weeks for a response.
